Extending Lifespan and Supporting Development
The Sustainable Clothing and Footwear Initiative collects, sorts, and sells second-hand clothing, extending its lifespan and using proceeds to support development projects across South Africa. This reduces waste, conserves resources, and provides affordable clothing to communities.
Process and Impact
Collected clothing is sorted and assessed in our dedicated centre, then sold in used clothing shops. This process ensures good quality clothing is accessible and affordable.
Transparency and Accountability
We maintain transparency by documenting each step, from collection to final sale, ensuring accountability and trust. Our initiative aims to generate funding for social projects while promoting environmental sustainability and benefiting communities.
For over 30 years, Humana People to People in South Africa (HPPSA) has been a driving force for positive change. Established in 1995. We have worked tirelessly to tackle the most pressing challenges faced by underprivileged communities and we are a proud member of the international Humana People to People Movement. Our journey began in Soweto, and today, our work aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and South Africa's National Development Plan (NDP). Our mission is clear: our mission is to empower communities and their people.
