We provide robust preschool programs to equip children for their future educational journeys.
The Preschool of the Future (POF) movement is revolutionizing early childhood education in rural South Africa by creating environments where young minds can flourish.
In partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Experimental College (KNEC), we train preschool teachers with a unique blend of humanitarian values and educational expertise.
This initiative aims to reduce environmental degradation and biodiversity loss by establishing Climate Change Centres that support nature-based solutions.
Our work includes protecting landscapes to limit deforestation, restoring ecosystems like drained wetlands to sequester carbon, and improving degraded habitats. We also manage tree nurseries and educate communities on practical mitigation strategies.
We support families in establishing home vegetable gardens to reduce dependence on costly, processed foods and to strengthen household nutrition.
In addition, we facilitate collaborative community garden initiatives and promote healthy eating habits to improve the overall wellbeing.
Our programs build economic resilience through tailored skills training, with a strong focus on AYP - adolescent young people and women.
By providing practical knowledge, mentorship, and entrepreneurial support, we foster self-sufficiency. Investing in women uplifts families and creates safer, more inclusive environments for children.
The Sustainable Clothing and Footwear Initiative collects, sorts, and sells second-hand clothing, extending its lifespan and using proceeds to support development projects across South Africa. This reduces waste, conserves resources, and provides affordable clothing to communities.

For over 30 years, Humana People to People in South Africa (HPPSA) has been a driving force for positive change. Established in 1995. We have worked tirelessly to tackle the most pressing challenges faced by underprivileged communities and we are a proud member of the international Humana People to People Movement. Our journey began in Soweto, and today, our work aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and South Africa's National Development Plan (NDP). Our mission is clear: our mission is to empower communities and their people.
